The Reserve Bank of India will announce its bi-monthly monetary policy today. Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the RBI began its three-day deliberations in Mumbai on Wednesday.
RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra will announce the decision this morning. Some experts believe that a 25-basis-point reduction in interest rates is likely to come.
The meeting is taking place against the backdrop of falling inflation and rising GDP growth. The RBI has reduced the key short-term lending rate by 100 basis points in three tranches, beginning in February this year.
