RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra Highlights Strength of India’s Banking System at Economics Conclave

Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra has said that country’s banking system has become stronger with improved capital adequacy, asset quality, and profitability. He said financial stability remains the cornerstone of RBI’s policy. 
 
 
Addressing the 12th SBI Banking and Economics Conclave in Mumbai, Mr. Malhotra said, the capital to risk-weighted assets ratio has risen to 17.5 per cent from 13.5 per cent in 2015, while gross NPAs have declined to 2.3 per cent from over 11 per cent in 2018. He said, country’s capital flows remain robust, with net inflows of 30.4 billion US dollars between April and July this year.
