The 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah was inaugurated in Puducherry today. Kickstarting the event, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan said that good nutrition is the foundation for a healthy and developed India.
Underlining the theme of this year’s Nutrition Month, he urged people to reduce sugar, salt, and oil intake and adopt balanced diets and regular exercise to prevent lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Puducherry Legislative Assembly Speaker R. Selvam and other dignitaries were also present. Certificates were given to Anganwadi children, while nutrition kits and saplings were distributed to pregnant and lactating mothers.
