Rameshore Khanal, a technocrat is sworn in as Minister for Finance of Nepal. Over three decades in public service he has a reputation of a careful technocrat and practical policy maker. He has several experiences in cooperative development, revenue policy, budget planning and public procurement. more modern accounting practices and for efforts to strengthen the revenue base. Under his stewardship the Finance ministry worked on improving revenue-to-GDP ratios. Recently, He chaired a High-Level Economic Reform Advisory Commission which offered concrete recommendations on tax policy, public institution reform and measures to attract investment. His appointment brings hope of expert-led finance management that may help Nepal recover from political shocks and economic stress.
