Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has said that the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Act is a historic step towards ensuring rural employment and sustainable livelihoods. Talking to the media, Mr. Sharma said, earlier MGNREGA scheme did not yield adequate social or economic benefits. He said that, due to several shortcomings in the previous scheme, public funds were not being utilised effectively.

 

The Chief Minister said that the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G scheme will enable the creation of permanent and high-quality assets in the rural areas. He said, under the new law, the legal guarantee of annual employment has been increased from 100 days to 125 days. He said that the scheme will focus on durable and sustainable works related to water resources, core rural infrastructure, livelihood infrastructure, and disaster management.

 

Mr. Sharma said that transparency will be ensured through the use of modern technologies such as geo-tagging, satellite imagery, mobile applications, and artificial intelligence under the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G scheme. He said that a mandatory social audit will be conducted every six months using digital evidence.
