Railways to set up permanent holding areas at 60 high-footfall stations

Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) Limited has been tasked to design a permanent holding area at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Ayodhya Railways stations. According to the Railways Ministry, once the model is ready, it will be expanded to 60 high-density footfall railway stations. All unauthorised access points to these stations will be closed and these holding areas will be integrated with the Amrit Stations redevelopment programme. The decision has been taken after Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met with RITES officials yesterday.

The Railways has decided to set up permanent holding areas at 60 railway stations across the country to manage heavy rush during the festive and peak season.
