Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has directed all Railway officials to take necessary precautions in view of the impending Cyclone Montha’s impact, particularly along the East Coast in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana. The Minister, while reviewing the preparedness of railways’ in view of the impending Cyclone through video conferencing, emphasised the need for uninterrupted communication and timely deployment of disaster response teams. Mr Vaishnaw instructed all Railway zones to remain on high alert and ensure swift restoration of train services after the cyclone.
The Ministry of Railways has informed that divisional war rooms have been activated for real-time coordination and response to the impending cyclone. It added that essential materials including machinery and manpower have been kept in readiness, particularly in the Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur divisions.
The Ministry also highlighted that the continuous monitoring of train operations is being carried out to minimize passenger inconvenience. It also said, the East Coast Railway, South Coast Railway, and South Central Railway zones have been instructed to mobilize resources for emergency response and take all necessary safety precautions.
