Railways Ministry sanctions over 411 crore for construction of Rajpura Bypass Line on Northern Railway Corridor

The Railways Ministry has sanctioned over 411 crore rupees for the construction of the Rajpura Bypass Line, a project designed to alleviate congestion on the Northern Railway Corridor. Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh, today said that the project involves the construction of around 13 kilometre bypass line connecting the New Shambhu Dedicated Freight Corridor station with Kauli station on the existing Rajpura-Bathinda line.

Mr Singh said that the Ambala-Jalandhar section is one of the busiest corridors on the Northern Railway network. He said that the capacity utilisation in the area is projected to exceed 165% by 2030-31 due to anticipated traffic increase. The Minister added that the bypass will facilitate smoother movement of freight and passenger traffic by avoiding the bottleneck at Rajpura Yard.
