In Punjab, continuous rain in many parts of the state, controlled release of water from various dams, including Bhakhra and overflowing of rivers are giving no respite to this flood-affected border state. Twelve districts are already severely impacted, resulting in 29 deaths, and hundreds of acres of land has also been inundated. Heavy rain in many parts of the state,e including Patiala and Jalandhar, have started affecting parts of these districts as well.
Our Jalandhar Correspondent reports that many district administrations have issued alerts to those living near the banks of Satluj and Raavi to reach relief camps set up by the government. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann who toured flood-affected villages of Ferozepur in a boat today, said, that yesterday, he has apprised the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister about the present situation in the state when both of them spoke to him telephonically. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is also touring the flood-affected districts to take stock of the situation. Rescue and Relief operations are on war-footing to take out the stranded fron the flood affected areas
