In Punjab, an RDX-laden Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 4 pistols and live cartridges, and one of the largest consignments of 1,215 MDMA tablets and about 5.50-kilogram Heroin, Cocaine, ICE, Magic Mushrooms and other narcotics have been recovered by Punjab Police in various operations at Amritsar, Mohali and other areas in the state. 14 persons of foreign-based terror and drug modules have been arrested so far.
Disclosing details, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said State Special Operations Cell Mohali busted a foreign-based terror module and foiled a major terror conspiracy with the recovery of one fully assembled remote-controlled RDX-laden IED along with live ammunition.
Whereas, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the Police has recovered the MDMA tablets along with other narcotics, besides 9 lakh rupees in drug money, from 6 key operatives today. These drugs are being supplied across the tri-city region of Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, and Ludhiana, targeting the urban youth. MDMA is a high-end synthetic psychoactive drug which is commonly known as Ecstasy.
In another operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted two cross-border drug and illegal arms smuggling modules and apprehended 10 persons with about 5.30 Kg Heroin, 3 sophisticated pistols, 34 live cartridges and 4500 rupees in drug money. Multiple FIRs have been registered. Further investigations are underway.
