Punjab Police has said that they have busted two terror modules with the arrest of five operatives of the banned outfit, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), in Amritsar and Hoshiarpur last evening. The police also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and RDX-based explosives from across the state.
In Hoshiarpur, the police arrested four operatives of BKI and recovered an RDX-based improvised explosive device weighing nearly 2.5 kg and two pistols from them. Those arrested are part of an ISI-backed terror network being operated by USA-based BKI handlers.
In another operation in Amritsar, the Police have averted an imminent attack on a security establishment with the arrest of an operative of the BKI. One hand grenade, along with a sophisticated pistol and ammunition, has been recovered from his possession. Punjab Police Chief, Gaurav Yadav, said all of them were operating on the directions of their foreign-based handlers. Further investigations are on.
