In Punjab, the 100-days intensified TB Elimination Campaign has picked up pace. It has been started in all the districts after getting micro plans for campaigning from the health authorities concerned. More focus has been kept on 18 vulnerable districts.
Over One Lakh Six Thousand vulnerable individuals including smokers, alcoholics and those above 60-years of age have been screened till date. The number includes nearly 1200 people with TB history.
Since the launch of this campaign, 3200 teams were constituted for active case finding. It has organised 1,347 Ni-kshay Shivirs and has deployed 14 Ni-kshay Vahans for detection. Ni-Kshey is a patient management system for TB control under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The intensified 100 Day TB elimination campaign was Nationally launched on the 7th of this month from Panchkula, Haryana. This will be a focused campaign with the effort to quickly detect and treat TB patients in the 347 most affected districts across the country.
