In Punjab, Hindu College, the Alma mater of the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is remembering him like many others in Amritsar where the family of this legendary economist moved after partition.

His college had a special place in his heart as it was this institution which generated his interest in economics. College Principal Sh. Sanjay Khanna said that a prayer meeting will be organized tomorrow in which all alumni will participate to pay tributes to the Son of the Soil.

Hindu College Principal Sh. Khanna said that Dr Manmohan Singh studied here from 1951 to 53 and Economics was his favourite subject.

Sh. Sardara Singh Johl, a famous agriculture economist who chaired the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices termed Dr Manmohan Singh as the finest piece of humanity which the Nation has lost.

Guru Nanak Dev University Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjit Singh said that Dr. Singh’s humility, intellect, and unwavering integrity will continue to inspire millions. In his tributes to Dr Singh, he said the University salutes this extraordinary leader, who will forever remain a beacon of pride and a hero of our nation.
