The Punjab government has issued the final notification for the long-awaited four-laning of the Nangal-Kiratpur Sahib road that leads to many prominent religious destinations. The land acquisition process would be completed within the next two months, after which tendering and on-ground construction would begin at the earliest.
Based on survey data, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have already established the case for the four-laning.
Punjab cabinet minister, Harjot Singh Bai,ns while announcing the development said that the improved road network will benefit nearly 100 surrounding villages by enabling easier access to markets besides boosting tourism impacting small traders, shopkeepers and local entrepreneurs. The project would significantly improve road safety, connectivity and economic activity in the region as well.
