Punjab Govt Calls Assembly Session to Frame Laws on Flood Compensation

The Punjab government has decided to convene a special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from September 26th to 29th focusing on providing relief to flood victims in the state and introducing several people-oriented amendments to rules related to the damage caused by the recent deluge. Additionally, new laws concerning compensation for flood victims will also be introduced during the session.

The devastation due to floods has taken 56 lives. 2300 villages have been submerged, affecting more than 2 million people and rendering around 7 lakh people homeless. Crops across five lakh acres of land have also been destroyed, besides hundreds of livestock have also been killed.
