The Punjab Government has decided to formulate a reservation policy for Agniveers in government jobs after the completion of their tenure in the defence forces. To finalise the modalities and framework in a time-bound manner, a high-powered committee comprising senior civil and police officers has been constituted.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has given in-principle approval for extending reservation benefits to Agniveers. It has been stated that their services can be effectively utilised in departments such as the Punjab Police, Forest Guards, Fire Services, Jails, Home Guards, and several other wings of the government.
