Punjab: Floodwater in border districts started to recede

In Punjab, the flood water in border districts of Gurdaspur, Fazilka and Pathankot has receded a bit but Amritsar and Ferozepur districts are still facing the water fury. Patiala administration has also issued a flood warning for the villages falling under Rajpura Subdivision and Derabassi Subdivision as the water level in the Ghaggar river has crossed the danger mark due to excessive rain in its catchment area.

Akashvani’s Jalandhar correspondent reports that meanwhile, rescue operations are on across all the affected districts on war footing with personnel of the Indian Army, BSF, NDRF, SDRF, Punjab Police and volunteer organisations are putting in best of their efforts to take out people from affected areas to safer places. Drones are being used in Gurdaspur to deliver relief material in the affected areas for stranded people. Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has also come forward to help people in many flood-affected areas by providing them with necessary items, including eatables.
