The flood situation in Punjab has now been stabilised as all 219 relief camps, which accommodated over 8200 affected people, have been closed and affected people have returned to their homes.

 

According to official records, the unprecedented flood fury, which took 57 lives and impacted 2,555 villages across the state, especially the border districts, affecting about 4 lakh population, has damaged crops on almost 2 lakh hectares of farmland as well. The loss of livestock is yet to be assessed.
