Punjab Vidhan Sabha has unanimously passed Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur World Class University Punjab Bill, 2026, yesterday, to establish a cutting-edge world-class university on the name of the 9th Guru on the sacred land of Sri Anandpur Sahib. A total of 300 crore rupees has been proposed for investment over the next three years, with an initial allocation of Rs. 20 crore in the current budget.
The university will offer North India’s first specialised courses in defence, aerospace, cyber security and quantum computing, with the ambition of positioning the institution alongside leading global centres of learning. The courses are likely to commence from July, this year.
