In Punjab, 12 people have died and 9 have been injured in a tragic road accident in Ferozepur this morning. Five people died on the spot, while 7 others succumbed to their injuries later. The injured have been admitted to various hospitals in Ferozepur and Faridkot. According to police sources, the accident occurred when a pickup van, carrying over 20 people collided with a canter truck. All of them were waiters on their way to join their duties at a function. The state government has announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees to each of the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident. The treatment of the injured will also be borne by the state.
