Puducherry: Campaigning intensifies as parties make final push ahead of polls

In Puducherry, political parties are making a final push as campaigning for the assembly polls ends on Tuesday. Polling for the 30-member assembly in the Union Territory will be held on Thursday. Leaders from major parties are holding rallies, public meetings, and outreach programmes to woo the voters.
 
BJP National President Nitin Nabin held a roadshow in Karaikal district’s Thirunallar constituency in support of party candidate G. N. S. Rajasekaran. He emphasised that improving the livelihoods of youth and women is the primary goal of BJP  and called for the continuation of a “double-engine government” to take Puducherry’s development to new heights. Union Minister and Senior BJP leader Dr Mansukh Mandaviya also participated in the campaign.
 
In Mahe, Indian National Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar campaigned for Secular Progressive Alliance candidate Ramesh Parambath. He alleged that the current governments in Puducherry and Kerala have created a complex crisis in all sectors and have not been able to implement any people-friendly schemes.
 
BJP national executive member Khushbu Sundar, who campaigned for NDA candidates in Puducherry, expressed confidence that the NDA will retain power under the leadership of N. Rangasamy. She also highlighted welfare measures taken by the government and stated that statehood for Puducherry would be pursued through due process.
 
Meanwhile, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan MP said that there is no place for hate politics in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Campaigning for Secular Progressive Alliance candidates, he expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance will face defeat.
 
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Tamil Nadu General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami also campaigned in Puducherry in support of NDA candidates, asserting that coordinated governance between the Centre and state would ensure development. He also promised enhanced financial assistance for fishermen and steps towards statehood.
 
At a press conference in Mahe, Indian National Muslim League National President K. M. Kader Mohideen stated that the candidate contesting in Mahe under the Muslim League symbol does not have approval from the party’s national leadership and affirmed support for Secular Progressive Alliance candidate Ramesh Parambath.
