Production and export of electronics goods, including mobile manufacturing, witnessed rapid growth in the last ten years. Production of electronics goods has reached over 11 lakh crore rupees in the last financial year from one lakh 90 thousand crore rupees in 2014-15 exhibiting six times growth. This was stated by Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.

He said, export of electronics goods has reached to three lakh 27 thousand crore rupees in the last ten years. The Minister informed that country’s mobile phone exports surged 127 times in a decade from one thousand 500 crore rupees to two lakh crore rupees. He added that mobile production has touched five lakh 45 thousand crore rupees mark from 18 thousand crore rupees. The Minister attributed this success to Production Linked Incentive schemes resulting in establishment of a strong electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India. The PLI scheme for large scale electronics manufacturing has already attracted a cumulative investment of 12 thousand 390 crore rupees and generated additional employment of over one lakh 30 thousand direct jobs till last month.
