Union Government’s Principal Scientific Adviser Professor Ajay Kumar Sood has unveiled the National Technology Readiness Assessment Framework.
The framework developed in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) establishes a unified, objective yardstick to measure the maturity of technology projects from laboratory conception to commercial deployment. It aims to serve as the operational backbone for various research and development funds launched under National Missions. The framework is open for public consultation till the 31st of January next year.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sood highlighted the critical need for a common language between researchers and investors. He stressed that the Indian deeptech ecosystem has long faced a precarious situation where academia and industry speak different dialects regarding technology readiness. He believes that the framework will help to move from subjective narratives to objective evidence, ensuring that we are not just funding science experiments, but scalable, market-ready solutions.
