President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, which is commemorated as Parakram Diwas.
In a social media post, President Murmu said Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s call for independence awakened courage, self-confidence, unity and the spirit of nationalism among millions of Indians. The President added that through the Azad Hind Fauj, he gave decisive leadership to India’s freedom movement and carried it to global stage. President Murmu also said that his legacy continues to inspire every Indian.
Vice President C.P Radhakrishnan said that the fearless leadership, indomitable spirit, and unwavering commitment of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to India’s freedom embody the true essence of Parakram. The Vice President added that he will continue to inspire generations to uphold the ideals of courage, sacrifice, and national unity.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that on this day, the countrymen recall the indomitable courage, resolve and unparalleled contribution of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to the nation. Mr Modi added that he epitomised fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism, and his ideals continue to inspire generations to build a strong country.
In a series of social media posts, Mr Modi highlighted various initiatives undertaken in honour of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose across the country. The Prime Minister highlighted how the placing of the grand statue of Netaji next to the India Gate in the heart of the national capital stands as an example to shed colonial mindset and pay reverence to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He added that at the Red Fort, the Kranti Mandir museum has substantial historical material relating to Netaji Bose and the INA, including the cap worn by Netaji Bose. The Prime Minister said that this reflects the government’s efforts to preserve and deepen knowledge of his historical contribution.
Mr Modi recalled the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Azad Hind Government at the Red Fort in 2018. He also recalled that in the same year, three prominent islands were also renamed, including Ross Island, which became Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.
The Prime Minister further underlined that in Srivijayapuram at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Tricolour was unfurled to mark the 75th anniversary of Netaji unfurling the Tricolour there. He also recalled his Netaji Bhawan in Kolkata in 2021, from where Netaji began his great escape.
Mr Modi also highlighted that on 23rd January 2009, the e-Gram Vishwagram Yojana was launched in Gujarat, which was a pioneering scheme aimed at transforming state’s IT landscape.
