President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla have condoled the demise of former Union Minister Shivraj Patil.
In a social media post, the President said that during his long public life, Mr Patil held several important positions, including those of Lok Sabha Speaker, Union Minister, Governor, and a longstanding Member of Parliament. In a social media post, the Vice-President said that Patil’s long years of service in various key roles will be remembered with respect.
Meanwhile, in a social media post, the Prime Minister also said that Mr Patil was an experienced leader, having served as MLA, MP, Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, as well as the Lok Sabha during his long years in public life. He added that the late former Union Minister was passionate about contributing to the welfare of society.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the passing of Mr Patil is a significant loss to the nation’s public and parliamentary life. He offered prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family and supporters.
