President Droupadi Murmu said today that the country faces challenges such as waste management and sustainability, which require social and economic perspectives along with technical expertise. The President attended the 15th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, as the Chief Guest today in Adityapur area in Saraikela Kharsawan district.
The President said, a Viksit Bharat is achieved not just through high buildings or a strong economy, but by ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for even the poorest citizens. She said that education and knowledge will only be considered useful when their benefits reach the common people.
She advised them to remember that an invention without compassion can only create a machine, but innovation driven by compassion proves to be a boon for society.
The President urged the students to use technological development as a means for human welfare. She said that educational institutions should be evaluated not only by rankings and placements, but also by their contribution towards the society.
The President said that the students should use their knowledge to build an inclusive and prosperous nation. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, State Cabinet Minister Deepak Birua, and Director, NIT Jamshedpur Prof Gautam Sutradhar were other dignitaries present at the convocation ceremony.
