President Droupadi Murmu has stressed the importance of encouraging the Divyangjans in all spheres of life. She stated that with the help of advanced technologies, Divyangjans can now contribute effectively to the mainstream. The President was addressing students at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities in Dehradun today. Lauding the National Education Policy, she said that the policy ensures equal access to quality education for children with disabilities, similar to other children. President Murmu added that the government, through the Accessible India Campaign, is committed to empowering Divyangjans and ensuring their equal participation in society.
Earlier, the President inaugurated Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Tapovan in Dehradun. Both Rashtrapati Niketan and Tapovan will be open to the public from the 24th of this month. She also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects at Rashtrapati Niketan. She also laid the foundation for the Rashtrapati Udyan, a garden to be developed over 132 acres, which is expected to be completed and dedicated to the public within a year.
