President Droupadi Murmu has extended greetings to the countrymen, especially the Jain brothers and sisters, on the eve of Mahavir Jayanti. In her message, President Murmu said that Bhagwan Mahavir’s five principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), Asteya (non-stealing), Brahmacharya (self-control) and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) – inspire everyone to walk on the right path in life. The President added that by adopting these principles, citizens can make their lives meaningful, bringing positive change to society. President Murmu further noted that Bhagwan Mahavir raised his voice against the evils prevailing in society and showed the way to a better life, and his teachings will always remain relevant. On the occasion, the President urged all to take a pledge to adopt Mahavir‘s messages in their lives, continuously striving for the progress of the nation.
