President Murmu called upon future doctors to embrace technological advancements in health sector

President Droupadi Murmu has called upon future doctors to embrace technological advancements in the health sector. Addressing the inaugural convocation ceremony of AIIMS Rajkot today, the President emphasized that while medical technology has progressed significantly, the core of the medical profession remains compassion. She urged young professionals to honor the sacred trust placed in them by the public, not only through clinical expertise but also through deep-rooted empathy.
 
The President noted that a doctor’s behaviour and communication are as vital as their clinical skills in the healing process. Highlighting the impact of AIIMS Rajkot on the Saurashtra region, she specifically urged the institution to develop solutions to local healthcare challenges, including sickle cell anaemia prevalent among tribal communities. She said institutions like AIIMS have a vital role to play in research and development to ensure quality and accessible healthcare for all.
 
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat also emphasised the importance of ethical conduct, urging students to uphold the values of integrity throughout their careers. Union Minister of State for Health, Anupriya Patel, also graced the occasion. During the ceremony, the President conferred gold medals on two MBBS students, as fifty students from the inaugural batch were awarded their degrees.
