President Droupadi Murmu to preside over 11th National Handloom Day Celebration in New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the 11th National Handloom Day celebration in New Delhi today. The event, organized by the Ministry of Textiles, aims to honor India’s vibrant handloom sector and its contribution to the country’s rural economy and cultural identity.
 
 
 
Approximately 650 weavers from across the country, foreign buyers, eminent personalities, exporters, and senior government officials will attend the function. Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, and secretary of the Ministry of Textiles Neelam Shami Rao will be attending the function.
 
 
 
The celebration will include the presentation of prestigious awards, such as the Sant Kabir Handloom Award and National Handloom Award, to outstanding weavers who have made significant contributions to the sector’s growth. The Sant Kabir Award carries a cash prize of 3.5 lakh rupees, while the National Handloom Award carries a cash prize of 2 lakh rupees.
