President Droupadi Murmu has said that greater participation of women in the field of research and development is not only important for the cultural and economic development of the country but is also essential for improving the quality of life of women. Ms. Murmu was delivering the 18th convocation address at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, this afternoon.
She said that if women are given equal opportunities, they can achieve greater excellence. She said that it is a matter of happiness to see an increase in the enrolment of girls in the country in recent years. The President said that we have set a goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
She called upon the students that it is their duty to provide leadership towards national development. They should come forward to shape the future of the country through the strength of their knowledge and strong determination. She told the students that their ambitions should be in line with the nation, and they should pave the way for the development of society and the nation.
She said that it is natural to expect students of institutions of national importance to work with the spirit of Nation First. Ms. Murmu appealed to the students that they should make such efforts in their personal lives that cause minimal damage to the environment. Along with this, new technologies should also be developed for environmental protection. Governor of Rajasthan, HariBhau Kisanrao Bagade, and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also addressed the programme. The President awarded gold medals to the students and also virtually inaugurated the new Aravali hostel of the institute.
