President Droupadi Murmu to attend Ol Chiki centenary celebrations and NIT Jamshedpur convocation

President Droupadi Murmu will today attend the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script of the Santhali language and address the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur.

 

The President will proceed to Jamshedpur today on a special helicopter from Ranchi to attend both these programs. She will visit the Dishom Jaherthan courtyard in Karandih on the outskirts of Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district to attend the closing ceremony of the centenary celebration of the Ol Chiki script, being jointly organised by All India Santhali Writers’ Association and Dishom Jaherthan Committee to mark 100 years of the Ol Chiki movement launched in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu.

 

Besides, the President will also pay her tributes to Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the creator of the Ol Chiki script. Thereafter, the President will attend the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT Jamshedpur in Adityapur area of Saraikela Kharsawan district in the afternoon. Later in the day, she will return to Ranchi.

 

Tomorrow, President Murmu will visit Gumla to address an Antarrajyiya Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh-Kartik Jatra – an interstate folk cultural gathering. The President will leave for Delhi on Tuesday.
