President Droupadi Murmu attends centenary celebrations of Ol Chiki script in Jamshedpur

President Droupadi Murmu today attended the Centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script of the Santhali Language at Dishom Jaherthan in the Karandih area of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The President traditionally worshipped at Jaherthan and also garlanded the bust-sized statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, who is considered the father of Ol Chiki script.
 
 
Speaking at the 22nd Parsi Maha Santhali Sammelan in her mother language Santhali, the President applauded the efforts of converting the Constitution in Santhali language in Ol Chiki script. She said that she would be happy if translation tools and AI applications were also developed in the Ol Chiki script.
 
 
The President Murmu also hoped to see the Presidential website in the Ol Chiki script, which will further give a boost to the Santhali Language. The President also sang the Jaher Aayo Nehor song in the Santhali language on this occasion.
 
 
Praising the efforts of Raghunath Murmu, the President said that celebrating the centenary year celebrations of the Ol Chiki script has been possible due to Pandit Raghunath Murmu’s efforts. She also felicitated the writers who have contributed their writings in the Ol Chiki Script. 
 
 
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangawar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren also appreciated the efforts of All India Santhali Writers Association for bringing global recognition to the Santhali Language and Ol Chiki script.
