President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to the National Song Vande Mataram on the occasion of commemorating its 150th anniversary today. In a social media post, President Murmu said that Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay composed the immortal song “Vande Mataram” in the nineteenth century against the backdrop of the Sannyasi Rebellion, which became a source of inspiration against the British Raj during the 1905 Swadeshi Movement.
The President added that since then, this song of reverence to Mother India has remained a proclamation of the emotional consciousness and unity of our countrymen, and will continue to be so.
She urged the people to take a firm resolve to keep Mother India prosperous, fruitful and happy as per the spirit of this song on this glorious occasion.
