President Droupadi Murmu, on the first day of her three-day visit to Uttarakhand, participated in various programs held in Dehradun and Haridwar today. Addressing the convocation ceremony of Patanjali University in Haridwar, the President said that India’s great personalities have made invaluable contributions to the development of human culture. She added that Maharishi Patanjali, the greatest of sages, cultivated the mind through yoga, speech through grammar, and removed impurities from the body through Ayurveda.
Our correspondent from Uttarakhand reports that the President inaugurated various projects in Dehradun today and will participate in numerous events over the next two days.
President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the newly constructed foot overbridge on Rajpur Road in Dehradun and also inaugurated the horse-riding arena at Rashtrapati Niketan. The 105-foot-long foot overbridge built on Rajpur Road has established seamless connectivity between Rashtrapati Niketan and the under-construction Rashtrapati Udyan. The bridge is a beautiful example of traditional Himalayan architecture. Meanwhile, the 0.7-acre horse-riding arena developed within the premises symbolizes the historic tradition of the President’s PBG.
Meanwhile, she also interacted with participants of the International Literature, Culture, and Arts Festival held at Rashtrapati Niketan.
Mrs. Murmu will address a special session of the Legislative Assembly in Dehradun tomorrow to mark the silver jubilee of the state of Uttarakhand. She will then attend the celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Nainital Raj Bhavan.
The President will participate in various programmes organised in Kumaon on November 4.
