President Droupadi Murmu today said that Ayurveda, Yoga, and other AYUSH systems are not only limited to the treatment of diseases, but it is a science of holistic health management. She said, Ayurveda provides scientific guidelines for diet, daily routine, seasonal routine, and disease prevention.
The President was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a four-day National Arogya Fair at Shegaon in Buldhana District organised by the Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with the All India Ayurvedic Congress.
Stressing on the importance of wellness, the President said, it is universally accepted fact that prevention is better than cure. She said, preventing disease is not only beneficial for the individual but also reduces the burden on the country’s healthcare system.
She said, this is why preventative steps such as regular exercise, proper diet, and a balanced lifestyle are being emphasised today.
She said, people worldwide are adopting yoga for a stress-free and healthy lifestyle and Ayurvedic treatments and medicines are benefiting people worldwide.
She also highlighted efforts taken by the government over the past decade to provide the world with a healthy future based on the legacy of accumulated knowledge of AYUSH systems of medicine.
The President said that AYUSH departments have been established in all new AIIMS. Several steps have also been taken to promote ease of doing business in the AYUSH sector, thereby encouraging MSMEs and start-ups in the production and export of medicines.
Minister for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the allocation to Ayush sector in this year’s Union Budget.
Mr. Jadhav said that the government announced the establishment of 3 new All India Institutes of Ayurveda to strengthen the AYUSH sector.
On this occasion, the President also facilitated medical professionals who have done exceptional work in field of AYUSH. She also took darshan of Sant Gajana Maharaj inside Gajanan Temple in Shegaon.
Later in the evening, the President will also launch a state-level campaign by Brahma Kumaris organisation, titled A Golden Era for Maharashtra through Unity and Trust at the Vishva Shanti Sarovar complex in Jamtha near Nagpur.
This campaign has the objective of strengthening social unity, mutual trust, and positive values in Maharashtra.
