President Droupadi Murmu said that the power of literacy, education and knowledge has enabled Kerala to be among the leading states on several human development parameters. The President was attending the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of St. Thomas College, Pala in Kerala today. The President added that this century is described as knowledge century as knowledge takes society forward and makes it self-reliant. President Murmu also recalled the journey of her predecessor K R Narayanan from humble beginning to the highest office in the land, who was born in the village which is only a few kilometers from the college. The President said, the College has been promoting intellectual pursuits with a moral compass. Kerala Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlerkar, Union Minister George Kurian and Kerala Minister V N Vasavan also spoke on this occasion.
The President will attend the function at St. Therasas College, Ernakulam before leaving to New Delhi tomorrow.
