President Droupadi Murmu expressed her grief at the demise of the classical singer Pandit Channulal Mishra. In a social media post, President Murmu said that his demise has caused an irreparable loss to Indian music. She added that this great luminary of the Banaras gharana imparted new dimensions to classical singing. Praising his achievements, the President noted that along with numerous honours, he was also adorned with the Padma Vibhushan.
