President Droupadi Murmu Concludes Landmark State Visits to Angola and Botswana

President Droupadi Murmu will conclude a successful two-nation State Visit to Angola and Botswana today. She’ll emplane for New Delhi this evening.
 
On the last day of her visit to Botswana today, the President witnessed a symbolic handover of Cheetahs from Botswana to India. She also addressed the members of the Indian community in Botswana.
 
 
In separate meetings, Vice President of Botswana – Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe and Dr Phenyo Butale, Minister of International Relations, called on President Droupadi Murmu.
They both commended India on its notable development trajectory.
 
 
President Murmu had arrived in Botswana on Tuesday evening after concluding a successful visit to Angola. This was the first State Visit by an Indian Head of State to the two African countries.
 
 
The visit resulted in some very important outcomes. Yesterday (Wednesday), India and Botswana signed an MoU on cooperation in the Health and Pharmaceuticals sector, which will facilitate Botswana’s access to affordable quality medicines. India had also announced a decision to supply ARV medicines to Botswana.
 
 
Earlier, Angola had agreed to join two India-led initiatives – the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) and the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA).
 
Angola and India also concluded talks on an Air Service Agreement to enable future direct flights and signed MoUs on sustainable fisheries, aquaculture and marine resources and consular matters.
