The Assam government has stepped up security measures across the State ahead of the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hoist the National Flag at Khanapara in Guwahati at 9 AM tomorrow, and all other Ministers will hoist the tricolour in various districts.

Preparation is in full swing for the celebration of the 79th Independence Day across the state.

Security measures are tightened in the state ahead of the Independence Day celebrations as the banned militant organisation – ULFA (Independent) has called for a complete shutdown in the state tomorrow and also urged people to boycott the occasion.

A strict vigil is being maintained in all sensitive areas across the State to avoid any untoward situation.
