Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy has stated that preliminary preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state are in progress.
Mr Reddy said, the notification for the SIR process in the state is expected to be issued in April or May.
As part of these efforts, the CEO held a meeting with representatives of political parties. He urged the parties to appoint agents at the polling booth level and stressed the importance of coordination during the SIR.
To ensure accuracy, transparency, and prompt resolution of issues, he recommended appointing local residents as Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Currently, mapping is underway to link voters from the 2025 list with those registered in the 2002 SIR, using both tabletop and field-level methods.
In urban areas, BLOs are conducting door-to-door surveys to identify and verify residences.
The CEO noted that BLOs will visit each polling area three to four times during the SIR-first to distribute enumeration forms and again to verify unavailable households.
He clarified that voters not covered in the preparatory mapping will still have the chance to submit their details during the SIR.
He added that active participation by political parties at the booth level will help minimise complaints and ensure no eligible voter is left out of the list.
