Postal Circles Achieve 80% of Target, Earn ₹3,324 Crore in Q2: Communications Minister Scindia

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that postal circles have shown impressive performance in the second Quarter with three thousand 324 crore rupees which is about 80 percent of the target of around 4 thousand 200 crore rupees.

Addressing the media after the Quarterly Review of the Annual Business Plan 2025-26 of the Department of Posts today in New Delhi Mr Scindia noted that Delhi with 149 percent and Telangana with 112 percent emerged as the top performers, surpassing their set targets. He added that however, some areas like parcels, international and global business remain below 50 per cent of targets. The Minister stressed the need to focus on Parcel and Mail services so that they contribute at least 75 percent of total revenue in the coming years.

Highlighting the underperforming circles, Mr Scindia urged the concerned officers of these circles to give targeted support to underperforming circles including Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, while asking successful regions to share their best practices. He also emphasised boosting Business to Business B2B engagement, shifting revenue dependence from government towards the private sector. Stressing major modernisation plans, the Minister said India Post is set to transform with digitalisation, automation and consolidation along with upgradation of post offices, to help the department grow three to four times faster.

Talking about the Q2 meeting, the Minister said that the aim of the ongoing review exercise is not only to assess achievements but also to strengthen a family-like environment in the organisation for collaborative growth. The Minister also asked the officials to work collectively to build a truly competitive, future-ready India Post aligned with the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
