In Uttarakhand, the portals of Badrinath Dham, located in Chamoli district were closed today for the winter season at 2:56 PM after the prescribed rituals and worship. This marks the end of this year’s Chardham Yatra.
On the occasion of the closing of Badrinath Dham’s portals, the temple premises resonated with devotional tunes played by the Army band and chants of “Jai Badrivishal.” Despite the cold weather, more than five thousand devotees witnessed the closing ceremony. Tomorrow morning, the throne of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, along with Shri Kuber Ji, Uddhav Ji and Rawal Ji will depart for their winter residence in Pandukeshwar and Shri Nrisimha Temple, Joshimath. Shri Uddhav Ji and Shri Kuber Ji will stay in Pandukeshwar during the winter, while on November 27, the throne of Adi Guru Shankaracharya will reach Shri Narsingh Temple, Jyotirmath.
This year, the Char Dham Yatra began on April 30. The portals of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines have already been closed earlier. This year, more than fifty lakh pilgrims visited the Char Dham.
