Poll campaign heats up in West Bengal with rallies and road shows intensifying

In North Bengal, the election campaigns have been getting more and more intensified. The high profile leaders of all major parties are holding rallies, road shows, public meetings and door to door campaigns, trying hard to garner voter’s support. Today the TMC Supremo and the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a massive road show in Siliguri. After the Siliguri Road Show she will hold another road show from Mangal Bari Bazar to Chalsa under Jalpaiguri district and address the public meeting there in the late evening.

Earlier she addressed a huge public meeting at Islampur Court Ground under Uttar Dinajpur in support of party candidates. She alleged that BJP is depriving lakhs of people from their voter’s rights in the name of SIR. Hitting out at BJP she said, West Bengal people never accept bulldozer rule. She expressed her confidence for being in power for the fourth consecutive term. She said her government is making all efforts to develop North Bengal.

Meanwhile, BJP senior leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also in North Bengal today and addressed four public meetings in favor of party candidates. While addressing the gathering, he reminded the party manifesto regarding North Bengal development. He said a 500 bedded dedicated cancer hospital, AIIMS, IIM, IIT, Sports University and Tribal University will be established also Tea, Transport and Tourism Industry will be given much focus. He alleged that TMC government North Bengal is totally neglected and deprived from development.

Yesterday India National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally at Malda. In 8 districts of North Bengal there are 54 seats. On these seats elections will be held in the first phase on April 23. The last date of the election campaign is April 21. In the first phase the election will be held in total 152 seats and in the rest 142 seats voting will be on April 29, counting will be on May 4.
