Poll campaign for first phase of Bihar Assembly election hots up; Star campaigners hold back to back rallies across the state

In Bihar, star campaigners from the NDA, the Mahagathbandhan, and other parties are actively campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. The senior leaders of both alliances have intensified their verbal attacks on issues such as law and order, unemployment, Bihar’s development, and other key concerns related to the state. Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah continued campaigning for the NDA candidates for the second consecutive day. Leaders of the NDA’s constituent parties were also present during the rallies. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and the chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), Mukesh Sahani, addressed rallies in various assembly constituencies.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed public meetings in Khagaria, Munger, and Nalanda, where he sharply criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress. Mr. Shah said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the NDA has set Bihar on the path of development. He added that Bihar has been freed from crime, jungle raj, and massacres. He claimed that the double-engine government – with the Modi government at the Centre and the Nitish government in the State – has helped Bihar overcome Naxalism. He further alleged that Lalu Prasad’s tenure was marked by widespread corruption and scams.  Janata Dal (United) President and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while addressing a rally in Dumraon in Buxar, said that since he came to power in 2005, his government has improved the state’s education and healthcare systems. He added that communal harmony has strengthened during his tenure. Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav addressed rallies in Alauli and Gogri in Khagaria, and Shahpur in Bhojpur district. He accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government of failing on all fronts. Mr. Yadav claimed that the people of Bihar are seeking change in 2025. The RJD leader criticized the government accusing total failure of the liquor prohibition policy in the Nitish government. Leaders and star campaigners from other parties, including Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, Tej Pratap Yadav of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal, and leaders of the Left parties, also addressed public meetings today in poll bound constituencies.
