Political Momentum Builds in Bihar After Poll Dates Announced

A day after the Election Commission announced the Bihar Assembly elections schedule, political activity is gaining momentum across the political spectrum in the state. Senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the public will vote in favour of the development model of the past 20 years. He added that the NDA is currently having discussions on seat sharing, and the final decision will be announced soon.

In a social media post, the BJP’s Bihar unit said that the NDA has done unprecedented work in Bihar, and the state is rapidly progressing on the path of development. The Bihar BJP added that the textile factory in Begusarai is a result of the NDA’s visionary thinking and policies. JD(U) National Working President and MP Sanjay Kumar Jha said that Bihar has entered a take-off stage in the past 20 years. He added that Nitish Kumar has worked on roads, electricity, law and order, and women’s empowerment during this period.

On the other hand, in a video message on social media, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that Bihar will lay the foundation for rapid transformation, inclusive progress, public welfare, and comprehensive reforms on the 14th of next month. Talking to the media in Patna, CPI General Secretary D Raja said that the Communist Party of India is part of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar. He said the CPI will fight for a reasonable number of seats and will finalise the seat-sharing arrangement. Meanwhile, the Congress Central Election Committee, CEC, meeting to select candidates for the Bihar Assembly polls will be held tomorrow.

Yesterday, the Election Commission announced the poll schedule for the 243-member Bihar Assembly elections. The Assembly elections will be held in two phases on the 6th and 11th of next month. Polling will be held in 121 assembly seats in the first phase, while 122 assembly constituencies will go to the polls in the second phase. The counting of votes will take place on 14th November.
