Police took into custody and investigated William Joseph, a resident of Shiv Mandir, Siliguri, in connection with the murder case of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s close aide. His car’s number plate was allegedly used by the assailants who killed Chandranath Rath, the BJP leader’s PA, at Madhyamgram in Kolkata last night. After an almost three-hour investigation, police released him with the assurance that he would cooperate and help in further investigation. As per Joseph, he had advertised online to sell his car, and probably the killers must have used his car’s registration number.

 

Although DGP Sidhnath Gupta, while talking to the media, confirmed that the assailants had used a fake car number plate. Further investigation by the SIT is going on.
