Poila Boishakh celebrated across Bengal with traditional fervour & devotion

Bengalis across the globe are celebrating Poila Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, with traditional fervour and enthusiasm as they welcome the New Year 1433.

In West Bengal, devotees are thronging temples, including Kalighat Kali Temple and Dakshineswar Kali Temple, to offer prayers for peace, happiness and prosperity in the new year. Markets and shopping centres in the state are wearing a festive look.

Traders are opening new account books as part of the traditional Haal Khata ceremony and are greeting customers with sweets. Eateries throughout the state are offering traditional Bengali cuisine to customers. Cultural programmes are being organised at various places to mark the occasion.
