PMML, New Delhi, offers public a glimpse of India’s modern history with exhibition titled “The Archives of PMML”

The Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library (PMML) in New Delhi is presenting a rare and insightful exhibition titled “The Archives of PMML”, offering the public a glimpse into some of the most significant documents of India’s modern history. The exhibition showcases invaluable archival collections, including letters by Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The initiative aims to promote awareness and appreciation of India’s rich historical legacy among citizens, especially the younger generation.

Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Joint Director, Prime Ministers Museum and Library, Ravi K Mishra said that this exhibition aims to showcase the visitors about how the archives at the institution came up and the process of acquisition of these papers. He highlighted that copies of over fifteen key documents are presented in the exhibition including former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s handwritten draft of Tryst of Destiny, Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s letter to Loknayak JP Narayan during Emergency.

Meanwhile, visitors have expressed keen interest in the exhibition. Talking to Akashvani News, a university student said that viewing original documents helped her connect more deeply with history. She added that exhibits on the freedom struggle and Partition offer insights into the thoughts of people of that era and how historical events unfolded. The exhibition will remain open to the public until 14 April from 10 AM to 5 PM. Visitors can explore rare manuscripts, personal correspondences, and historical records preserved at PMML.
