PM Narendra Modi shares his thoughts in Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the recent developments, like the inauguration of the world’s largest leap engine MRO facility in Hyderabad, the induction of INS Mahé into the Indian Navy, unveiling of Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in the country, reflect India’s new thinking, innovation and youth power. Sharing his thoughts in the Mann Ki Baat programme of Akashvani today, Mr Modi said, achieving a major milestone in the agricultural sector, India has set a historic record with food grain production of 357 million tonnes.

He said, compared to 10 years ago, India’s food grain production has increased by a 100 million tonnes. The Prime Minister said, India has also accomplished glory in the world of sports as it was declared as the host of the Commonwealth Games just a few days ago. He said, these achievements belong to the country and the citizens. Mr Modi said, this month brought along many inspirations including a special programme in the Central Hall on Constitution Day, the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, hoisting of the Dharmadhwaja at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and inauguration pf the Panchajanya Memorial at Jyotisar in Kurukshetra.

Mr Modi said, November 2025 has been a super hit in terms of sports in India. He said, the month began with the Indian women’s team winning the ICC Women’s World Cup. The Prime Minister said, just a few days ago, the Deaf Olympics were held in Tokyo, where India won 20 medals, giving its best performance till date. He said, Indian women players also created history by winning the Kabaddi World Cup and the players of the country also performed brilliantly in the World Boxing Cup Finals, where they won 20 medals. Mr Modi mentioned that women’s team won the Blind Cricket World Cup without losing a single match. The Prime Minister said, this victory is one of the greatest victories in Indian sports history, which will continue to inspire every Indian.

Mr Modi said, nowadays a new sporting culture of Endurance Sports is also rapidly emerging in the country. He said, until a few years ago, special events like Marathon and Bikethon were limited to a select few. But now, a lot has changed and more than 1,500 endurance sports events are held across the country every month.

The Prime Minister said, India possesses every potential for winter tourism as it has mountains, culture, and endless possibilities for adventure. He said, winter tourism in Uttarakhand is attracting a lot of people and destinations like Auli, Munsyari, Chopta, and Deyara are gaining popularity during the winter season. Mr Modi said, the state’s first High Altitude Ultra Run Marathon was held at Adi Kailash, at an altitude of over 14,500 feet in Pithoragarh district, where more than 750 athletes from 18 states participated. He said, the Winter Games are also scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand in a few weeks.

 

Mr Modi said, for those interested in Navy-related tourism, there are many places in the country where they can learn a lot. He said, Diu houses the Khukhri Memorial and Museum dedicated to INS Khukri and Goa has the Naval Aviation Museum which is a unique museum of its kind in Asia. He added that INS Dronacharya in Fort Kochi houses the ‘Indian Naval Maritime Museum.

Speaking about the induction of INS Mahe in Indian Navy, the Prime Minister said that every Indian feels proud when India’s security eco-system is strengthened. He said, it is named ‘Mahe’ after the place Mahe, which has a rich historical heritage. The Prime Minister said that the warship’s crest resembles the traditional flexible sword of Urumi and Kalaripayattu. He expressed happiness that Indian Navy is rapidly moving towards self-reliance. Mr Modi again urged people to carry forward the mantra of ‘vocal for local’.

He said, few days ago, during the G-20 Summit he reiterated this sentiment ‘Vocal for Local’. The Prime Minister said, in the gifts he presented to world leaders on behalf of the countrymen this sentiment was carefully kept in mind. He expressed happiness that millions of people in the country have made the spirit of ‘vocal for local’ a part of their lives. Mr Modi said, people’s preferences, and the goods brought into their homes, clearly indicated that the country is returning to Swadeshi.

Referring to the fourth Kashi-Tamil Sangamam which will commence on the 2nd of next month at Namo Ghat in Kashi, Mr Modi said, this year’s programme has a very interesting theme: Learn Tamil – Tamil Karakalam. He said, the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam has become an important platform for all of those who are attached to the Tamil language. Speaking about his visit to Coimbatore to participate in a mega conference on natural farming, Mr Modi said, he was deeply impressed by the efforts being made in South India towards natural farming.

He said, many young, highly qualified professionals are now adopting the field of natural farming. The Prime Minister said, natural farming has been a part of India’s ancient traditions and it is the duty of people to continuously promote it to protect Mother Earth. Saying that the spirit of peace and compassion has been paramount in India’s great culture, Mr Modi mentioned that during the Second World War, when a horrific atmosphere of destruction prevailed everywhere, Jam Saheb Maharaja Digvijay Singh of Nawanagar, Gujarat, sheltered thousands of children and gave them a new life. The Prime Minister said, a few days ago, a statue of Jam Sahib was unveiled in Moshav Nevatim in southern Israel which was a very special honour.

Mr Modi said, last year, he paid respects at Jam Sahib’s memorial in Warsaw, Poland. The Prime Minister said, attending the International Gita Mahotsav held at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra was also very special for him. He said, he was deeply impressed to see how people from all over the world are being inspired by the divine scripture, the Gita. Mr Modi said, People from many countries around the world, including Europe and Central Asia, have participated in this festival. He said, earlier this month, it was the first time the Gita was performed on a public platform in Saudi Arabia. A memorable Gita Mahotsav was also held in Latvia, Europe where artists from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Algeria participated in this festival.

Mr Modi also mentioned about the unique drone competition organized by ISRO, where the country’s youth were trying to fly drones in conditions similar to Mars. The Prime Minister said, this very dedication of the youth is one of the greatest strengths of Viksit Bharat.

The Prime Minister said, India is setting new records in honey production. He said, honey production in the country has now almost doubled during the last 11 years. He added that Honey exports have also risen more than three-fold during the last few years. Mr Modi said, under the Honey Mission programme, Khadi Gramodyog has also distributed more than 2.25 lakh bee-boxes amongst the people which provided new employment opportunities to thousands of people.

Mr Modi also spoke about Ramban Sulai honey of Jammu and Kashmir, which has received the GI tag. Honeybees produce this unique honey from wild basil. He also mentioned about farmers’ organization Gramjanya in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada district and Shivganga Kalanjiya in Tumkuru district in Karnataka which are providing a new direction to farmers engaged honey extraction. The Prime Minister also spoke about Khiamni-Yangan tribe in Choklangan village of Nagaland in this context. Mr Modi said, Mann Ki Baat is an excellent platform to celebrate achievements of the people of the country and also to bring to the fore the collective efforts of the people to the public.
