Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the dignity and justice for the Sikh community. In a video message to the ‘Hind Di Chadar’ congregation in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Prime Minister highlighted several welfare initiatives for the community and said such gatherings strengthen social unity and reflect the blessings of the Gurus.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was present at the event, paid tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur for his martyrdom in defence of faith. He said, the sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus are unparalleled and expressed concern over religious conversions in Punjab and urged people to remain vigilant.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur will be included in the state school curriculum and that a hospital in Navi Mumbai will be named after him. Lakhs of devotees attended the congregation in last two days.
